In its determined effort to consolidate on the current gains and build a more resilient Lagos that is safer, neater, and environmentally sustainable, the Lagos State Government has disclosed its readiness to organize an all-inclusive Summit, geared towards building a more resilient and sustainable State that would be habitable to all.
This was disclosed today by the Special Adviser to Governor Sanwo-Olu on Sustainable Development Goals implementation, Dr Oreoluwa Finnh at a Press Conference organized by Lagos Sustainable Development Goals in conjunction with LASEPA and Lagos Safety Commission at the Executive Lounge of the Radisson Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
The press conference, themed “Building a Resilient and Sustainable Lagos serves as a call to action and a road map guiding government efforts to build a city that is prosperous, equitable, and environmentally sound.
” it is a vision where innovation thrives, and every citizen has the opportunity to succeed.”
The Special Adviser noted that the Summit is a further demonstration of the State government’s strong commitment to sustainability and the desire for innovative solutions to addressing health, safety and environmental challenges.
In his remarks, General Manager, LASEPA, Dr Babatunde Ajayi addressed the urgent need for effective environmental policies to secure Lagos’s future.
He stressed the importance of regulating industrial emissions, maintaining a carbon registry, data sharing, and ensuring that commercial activities do not contribute to air pollution in the overall interest of the public.
In their remarks, the Director General, of Lagos State Safety Commission, Lanre Mojola, and Special Adviser on Budget and Planning, Mr Lekan Balogun also addressed the conference. They expressed their commitment to supporting the summit’s goals and highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance safety and sustainability across Lagos.
