The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) today hosted a successful Year 2024 Greener Environment stakeholders’ forum with the theme “Our Environment, Our Future,” to promote environmental protection and sustainability. The event emphasized the importance of collective efforts in nurturing the environment for healthy living, and encouraged citizens to take responsibility for their actions.

LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, emphasized the need for collective efforts in protecting the environment and encouraged stakeholders to collaborate in addressing environmental challenges.

The event featured presentations, Spoken word Poetry, and an essay competition sponsored by Dangote Industries. Winners of the essay competition were announced and awarded cash gifts and plaques. The forum emphasized the need for collective action to address environmental challenges, including climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. LASEPA reiterated its commitment to working collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve a greener and more sustainable Lagos State.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Mr. Olakunle Rotimi Akodu, commended LASEPA for its advocacy efforts and encouraged citizens to take responsibility for their actions. He noted that LASEPA had recognized the need to engage the youth and put them at the center of sustainable environment policy implementation.
The guest speaker, Mr. Desmond Majekodunmi, emphasized the importance of protecting the environment and warned that nature will fight back if people fail to protect it. He encouraged individuals, organizations, and governments to prioritize environmental sustainability and work together to protect the planet for future generations.

The event was attended by dignitaries from various government agencies, private organizations, and tertiary institutions. The highlight of the event was the announcement of the winners of the essay competition sponsored by Dangote Industries. The winners were Sowemimo Efunjola Olumayowa, Bieni Precious Chinonso, Hamzat Kabir Olorunwa, Adebiyi Omotola Elizabeth, and Ashinze Emmanuel Chidi.
