The 10th Lagos State International Climate Change Summit at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island. The event convened a diverse array of climate experts, policymakers, students, and stakeholders to address critical environmental challenges facing Lagos State.
The summit, themed “Accelerating Climate Finance and Championing Local Adaptation Initiatives,” underscored the collective commitment to fostering a healthier and more sustainable Lagos.
The General Manager LASEPA,Dr. Babatunde Ajaji, participated in a dynamic Breakout Room discussion focused on Waste Streams & Climate Climate Change .
from a regulatory point of view, Dr. Ajaji underscored the imperative of robust government frameworks in waste management and environmental protection. He elucidated the multifaceted nature of waste, emphasizing the distinction between solid, liquid, and air wastes and the detrimental impact they collectively pose to public health and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Ajayi emphasized the pivotal role of public participation in bolstering environmental stewardship, stressing the importance of advocacy, education, and enforcement measures. Reflecting on his rich background in public service, including his time at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ajayi highlighted the urgent need for comprehensive policies and proactive measures to address the escalating challenges of waste management and pollution control.
