Trinity University took a bold step towards environmental stewardship by hosting a dynamic forum in celebration of World Environmental Day 2024. The event, held at Trinity University’s campus in Yaba, Lagos State, served as a platform for academia, government officials, and environmental advocates to come together and address critical environmental challenges facing Lagos State and its neighbouring communities
The General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Dr Babatunde Ajayi delivered an inspiring keynote address, emphasizing the transformative power of education in driving environmental change. Drawing from his personal journey, Dr. Ajayi illuminated the profound influence of educators in shaping the values and behaviors of future generations, emphasizing the enduring impact of inspirational teachers.
While speaking on the theme of the Year 2024 WED celebration, Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience, Dr. Ajayi delved into the pressing need for land restoration and sustainability efforts in Lagos State. He shed light on the global issue of land degradation and its specific ramifications for Lagos, including the alarming challenges of coastal erosion and water pollution.
Highlighting the pivotal roles of government and businesses in environmental stewardship, Dr. Ajayi outlined a series of initiatives and policies implemented by LASEPA to combat environmental degradation.
