LASEPA CELEBRATES Y’2024 INTERNATIONAL NOISE AWARENESS DAY, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENTAL GROWTH
In celebration of this year’s International Noise Awareness Day today, LASEPA reaffirmed its commitment to achieving a Noiseless Lagos environment that is safer, healthier, and more friendly to the citizenry.
The event, organized by LASEPA and themed; “Protect Your Hearing, Protect Your Health,” highlighted the detrimental impacts of noise pollution on health, including hearing loss, stress, and cardiovascular issues.
LASEPA has been active in enforcing environmental laws, with 375 enforcement actions taken in the last six months.
The agency has also been involved in multiple advocacy programs aimed at raising public awareness and compliance to reduce noise levels. During the event, the GM LASEPA, Dr. Ajayi expressed concerns at the growing rate of noise in public places, especially from motor parks, worship centers, lounges, clubhouses, and other places. He noted that the harmful effects of noise on human health calls for urgent action.
