LASEPA officials led by the GM, Dr Tunde Ajayi visited the Lagos State University (LASU) Vice Chancellor; Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello, to explore collaboration opportunities in order to strengthen the drive for a sustainable environment in the State. During the meeting, Dr Ajayi emphasized the need for a partnership between the expertise of academia as the source of research development and the government agency as the policy maker for knowledge transfer, and maximise environmental protection opportunities.
Accompanied by the Governor’s Executive Assistant; Mrs Tolulope Adebowale and top Directors of the agency, the GM sought the University’s partnership in research development through the use of LASEPA’s ISO-Certified laboratory for scientific analysis and development.
Other areas of possible collaboration as listed by the GM include the use of LASEPA’s reliable database for research development, the Agency’s Air Quality Index report, the use of LASEPA E-Library for further environmental studies, and E-Waste management among others. The VC applaud the team for collaborating with the University and expressed willingness to work with them in areas such as laboratory research, carbon emissions control, student internship, data analysis, environmental sanitation and technological innovations. The collaboration visit ended on a good footing as both institutions ( LASEPA and LASU) formed a joint team to draw areas of possible collaboration and work out the modality for driving them in a way that would be mutually beneficial.
