The officials of the Lagos State Parastals Monitoring Office (PMO), led by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Adetutu Ososanya paid a working visit to the LASEPA yesterday.
The visit is aimed at making on- the -Spot assessment of the facilities and workings of LASEPA as an agency of government saddled with the responsibility of sustainable environmental protection in the State.

The Permanent Secretary noted that LASEPA is entrusted with the responsibility of acting like the environmental police of the State, against any form of environmental infractions that may impact negatively on the health of the public, hence, the need for regular visits.

While welcoming the team, LASEPA General Manager, Dr Tunde Ajayi explained that the agency has been carrying out its responsibilities in line with the provision of the State’s Environmental Law, 2017.
In meeting up with its ministerial obligations, the General Manager explained that 13 core Departments/Units were created to ensure efficiency in service delivery in environmental sustainability-
These, according to the General Manager included;
-Noise Pollution,
-Air quality and Emissions control

  • Land and Water Control Unit.
    -Research and Development Unit.
    -Chemicals and Hazardous Materials Management Unit
    -Natural Resources Protection Unit.
    -Laboratory Services.
    -Environmental Sustainability ( E- Wastes and Plastic Solution)
    -Hydrocarbon and Gas Storage.
    -Engineering Department
    -Data Management
    -Monitoring and Inspection.
    -Enforcement Unit.

The General Manager explained that the agency has been collaborating with various organisations including foreign partners to ensure efficiency in environmental protection.

The Permanent Secretary who was highly impressed with the operational activities of LASEPA and the success attained so far, urged the agency to strengthen its advocacy and public enlightenment campaigns, especially on its ISO-certified laboratory to create more awareness of its efficiency and capacity to boost government revenue.

She commended the LASEPA boss for providing the leadership quality needed by the agency for increased productivity and rapid growth.
