The unit is responsible for sending bills to clients and ensuring all outstanding bills are paid in full and on time.
We are client focused and assist with bills related issues (public complaints) and also liaise with private revenue collection agents to facilitate agency’s collections through online portal for swift and seamless payment process.
1. Coordinates the Agency’s statutory fees and charges with the support of seventeen (17) billing officers from other revenue generating depts./units/zones.
Ans: The payment of EDC is statutory and mandatory on all business outfits that are operative in the state. This is regardless of whether the organization engages in activities that degrades or pollutes the environment or not, hence, it is called an Environmental Development Charge and not Environmental Pollution Charge.
Ans: The government remediates the environment by charging EDC. The cost of carrying out this exercise is enormous, hence the need to charge EDC to assist the government in defraying the cost incurred in carrying out this exercise.
